HAPPY NEW YEAR! This is a very special, previously lost film based on the popular weekly music variety television show "The Best Ten", but instead of the top ten songs of week, hosts Tamori and Miyuki Kojima cover the top ten anime of the year 1980, as a special theatrical event!

The film was acquired by @nappasan on Twitter and scanned it with us. It was scanned in 6.5K resolution, and we took the liberty of recutting it, editing it, color correcting it, and restoring it in about a week for the goal of uploading by New Years Day 2022. What you see here is a 4K, color corrected restoration. This currently does not have subs, but we'll be looking into getting it translated sometime in the future. This is the first time this film has ever seen the light of day after its original theatrical release, due to its infamy in otaku circles of the time. This effectively made it lost media, and we are presenting it in a pristine, high definition manner for the first time ever. The film includes a variety of content, including live action footage, musical performances, commercials, and of course, anime footage! Shows and movies shown off in this feature even include some lost media in and of themselves... including footage from the Dr. Slump Pilot Film. It's not complete, but it's the first time presented with audio from the film itself, and of course, for the first time in high definition, as the only source of footage that previously existed was a low-quality television capture from a preview for the show. The audio on this upload was sourced from the print's optical track itself, since no other audio source exists.
