The Oscars Treated Animation Horribly

Published
Will Smith and Chris Rock drama aside, The Oscars 2022 didn't take the medium of animation seriously. The competition was between Encanto, Flee, Luca, The Mitchells vs. the Machines, and Raya & the Last Dragon. However, the problem revealed itself during this category's introduction.

Although The Oscars has a history of placing animation in the "just for kids" mindset, we're in a new era for the medium that says the opposite. Invincible, Arcane, Smiling Friends, Final Space, The Midnight Gospel, Close Enough, and a bunch of other cartoons have been changing everything. Even typical "kids" cartoons can be enjoyed by older audiences, like SpongeBob SquarePants or Kid Cosmic. Why won't the Oscars acknowledge that animation is for everyone?
